Wagon Wheel Motel

This is a great place. I’ve stayed 1/2 dozen times or more. Pride in ownership. Lovely stone cottages right on Route 66. Insides are spotless & the grounds are gorgeous. Feel the nostalgia sitting in the old metal lawn chairs. I’ll be cruising the Mother Road again. See you then. Route 66 FunAddict

If you’re looking for a Hilton level accommodation, this probably isn’t the right fit. This has its own form of charm and appeal. Such a fun, unique stay. Definitely recommend this stay/experience

I recently stayed at the Wagon Wheel Motel and found the rooms to be average, but equipped with convenient amenities such as a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee machine. One notable perk is that the motel sells wine and champagne, which can be arranged through the friendly front desk staff. While the rooms may not be luxurious, they provide the basics for a comfortable stay.

We are two British couples who stayed in 2 of the cottages towards the end of May. We all enjoyed our stay. As expected the rooms were small but this added to the charm. We found Connie a friendly & welcoming hostess. We would recommend Shelly's Route 66 Cafe for breakfast & Missouri Hick (next door) for dinner but be aware that it closes at 8:00pm.

Wagon Wheel is a wonderful spot for those looking to stay in a piece of old Americana. Our room wasn’t very big. Though it was very clean and cozy! The beds were comfortable and the pillows were just as nice! The gift shop is great if you’re looking for some memorabilia. Wait until a little after sunset and you’ll get to experience the vintage Wagon Wheel neon sign! It’s worth checking out and taking a few photos. Lastly, Connie the owner is a lovely woman to talk with. She told me a few things about the property and the history. She was a very kind person to me and my family. If you’ve got a chance to stay or even stop to admire a piece of Route 66 history I would highly recommend it!

Real authentic experience from heydays of route 66. Rooms nicely redone but presevered a lot of the original charm. Missouri hick BBQ next door is great.

We were able to stay one night at the Wagon Wheel Motel. It's such a beautiful property. This was our first trip on Route 66. We were on a short schedule so we could only stay one night. This was a very special part of the Route 66 experience. Great restaurants in the area. Would love to come back when we have more time. Thank you for what you are doing to save this nostalgic piece of history.

Such a wonderful place! Check in is contactless at the moment to keep the owner safe. She was very easy to work with over the phone and our room was ready when we arrived. Our room had 2 extra long full size beds in it ( I was traveling with my teenage son ) and we couldn't be happier. We are both over 6ft tall and have long and comfortable beds was the best. Original hardwood floors, doors, windows and frames made the room very inviting. Only wish the rooms were decorated in keeping with the vintage nature of the motel and route 66. 100% still recommend.

If you are traveling Route 66 this place is the place to stay. The rooms are updated but that doesn’t take away the charm of the place. Our room had a nice kitchenette and plenty of room for all three of us. There was a nice sitting area outside with a fire pit. Unfortunately we weren’t able to enjoy this because of a storm. There’s a bbq place right next door that you can walk to. I definitely recommend the Wagon Wheel.

The Wagon Wheel is a quaint and historic motel on Route 66. Because we were traveling with our dog, we stayed in one of the two dog-friendly rooms. Our room was very small by today's standards, but included a queen bed, a mini fridge and microwave, and a small table and chairs. The bathroom and sink area had been remodeled and everything was very clean. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning unit was very loud -- wish we could've opened the windows for fresh air instead. The office and shop weren't open during our visit, but a phone number was posted so we could arrange for access to our room. The outdoor seating areas were nice for chatting with other guests. Downtown Cuba is within walking distance and we were able to view several of the murals which provided a nice history of the area. It was wonderful to experience this piece of Route 66 history.
